What are the goals? How are they achieved?
- The YS Committee is dedicated to the advancement of overall education and career development of young scientists. To achieve this, various programs and events are organized: workshops, conference calls, Get Up; Get Educated! sessions, and person-to-person interactions, which all assist in satisfying this broad goal. The educational programs and articles in the CRS Newsletter also help the YSC reach desired goals.
- The YS Committee strives to recognize current and future academic requirements of young scientists and organizes events and conferences to fulfill those needs.
- CRS offers a variety of professionally beneficial activities and services to young scientists. The YS Committee assists in communication between CRS and young scientists by enlightening young scientists about services CRS offers. For example, the CRS Career Center helps new college graduates and experienced scientists find positions in academia, government, and/or industry.
- Many of the YS Committee’s events offer an amazing platform for networking among professionals, an opportunity to mingle with peers, and meet established scientists from academia, government, and industry.

Become a CRS member today to keep up to date with the Young Scientist Committee and all CRS activities and to be able to register for CRS events at the lowest rates possible.

Who are the Young Scientist Subcommittees?
Each of the subcommittees, under the larger umbrella of the YS Committee, have their own goals and responsibilities that complement the YS Committee by working together toward the overall professional development of young scientists. For example, the Education Initiative Subcommittee ensures that young scientist members of CRS are exposed to excellent academic and career-oriented advice through events and meetings. The Mentor/Protégé Subcommittee emphasizes professional counseling and overall training of young scientists.
