  • Abstract must relate specifically to consumer or industrial products research in the field of delivery of bioactives
  • Significant and original contribution
  • Ground-breaking research of outstanding quality
  • Individual must be a member of CRS

SELECTION PROCESS
The Consumer & Diversified Products Committee will make the selection of the awardee.

AWARD
The recipient will receive:

  • $1,500 Award
  • Complimentary Annual Meeting and Exposition Registration
  • Plaque
  • Award Winner to Give a Presentation at the 37th CRS Annual Meeting & Exposition


NOTIFICATION
Awardees will be notified by April 30, 2010.

Outstanding Consumer & Diversified Products Paper 2010 Award Winner
Kashappa Goud H. Kashappa Goud H. DesaiDr. Kashappa-Goud H. Desai is currently a senior post-doctoral research fellow in the group of Prof. Steven P. Schwendeman at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Michigan. His current research focuses on the development of novel self-microencapsulating PLGA microspheres for protein and peptide delivery. Dr. Desai earned his B.S. (Karnatak University) and M.S. (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences) degrees in India and Ph.D. degree (Korea University) in South Korea. He received an Outstanding Ph.D. Student Fellowship from KOSEF, South Korea. Dr. Desai has authored a book on Pharmacy Education—Teaching and Research Guide (published by Anmol Publications, India), has 1 U.S. patent (pending), has published37 peer-reviewed articles, and has presented his work at 6 conferences. He is a member of Sigma Xi (nominated), CRS, and AAPS and serves as a reviewer for Biomacromolecules, Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Controlled Release, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, and Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
